Swan Dive

Swan Dive

Swan Dive is a celebration of the many facets of life—empowerment, connection, community, joy, and challenge. These elements, stacked high like an elaborate baroque wig, are carried with poise, elegance, and humor. The heroic water-skiing men represent the unseen support system that makes great achievements possible, while the boat offers safety and grounding.

At the heart of the piece is the swan dive—one of the most daring and vulnerable acts. Arms open, chest and neck exposed, it symbolizes loyalty, faith, and the risks we take for love and ambition. Just as swans grieve their lost partners with a final, fearless dive, success is not measured by accolades alone but by the strength of the relationships we nurture along the way.

From the series

I Woke Up Like This

Still-Lifes of Life as a Work-in-Progress

This series explores the responsibility we bear, the challenges we overcome, and the people we become – always with grace, confidence, and a touch of humor toward ourselves and others.

It questions the definition of success as personal growth, deep relationships, and a fulfilling career—one that is about staying authentic, nurturing connection with oneself and others, and finding the balance between ambition and self-care.

Health – physical, mental, and spiritual – forms the foundation. It is about mindful living, celebrating joy and beauty, and embracing the self-assurance that comes with age while unfolding one’s individuality free from external expectations.

The series reflects a journey – an honest portrait of the pursuit of success amid life's imperfections. It captures the elegance, resilience, and charm with which we navigate life’s complexities – an imperfect yet captivating still-life of a life that is always in the making.
